Hi,
Just had a similar problem. Leave the radio on for two hours, it will then display 'code', enter your code and you are done.

Hi Guys
I am a new member.
Can someone out there help me. I bought a 97 Grand Cherokee and was told the stereo was not working after a new battery was installed. The security code was lost and I had to get the codes from Jeep. The stereo is now showing WAIT when I switch it on and does not let me enter a code. What can I do ?

Tech corner >>> ignition problems
Written 2008-07-05 10:36:24 (185 days)
Hi
Can anyone help
I have intermittent ignition problems with my 4.7l gas converted V8. I love the car but really need to sort it. It seems to do it when warm. I have had the crank sensor replaced, the fuel pump replaced, a new battery, all of which have helped but it still does it, my garage don't seem to be able to get to the bottom of it and I am close to ditching the car. Please any ideas would be great!!
Thanks Claire

We have a 2000 Grand Cherokee with the 6 cyl 4.0 L engine . The first problem was the engine would have to crank for maybe 10 sec before it would start . I suspected that the fuel pressure was not staying up in the fuel rail. I tried to just turn on the key and wait a few seconds before cranking and that seemed to cure it . Now it is getting harder to start again . Even with waiting to crank it starting is getting harder , it will even stall now untill it runs for about a min or so then seems to be fine. I am thinking that it is the fuel pump , I tried to buy a fuel pressure gauge but the auto store only had one that would work on vehicles up to 1998. Is there a fuel pressure regulator anywhere that I can check before I replace the pump and filter???? Any other suggestions???

I am having problems getting my 91 cherokee to start. Sometimes it does but most of the time it wont. I have a new coil, starter, distributer and cap, wires, and fuzes. I changed to crankshaft position sensor and also the fuze box in the engine compartment. I really have no idea what it could be. If you know please help me.
Thanx

Tech corner >>> Dont Laugh, its my First Automatic
Written 2007-07-28 08:06:02 (528 days)
Hey there everyone, new to the boards, so i thought id start off with an easy question.
Just both a 02 Grand Cherokee, and having driven manuals back home in ireland for the last 7 years the automatic trans is completly new to me, i cant find any basic operating instructions in the drivers manual, and i dont want to be doing anything i shouldnt be and causing any damage.
Basically my question is about shifting gears in the automatic, all the details i have gotten so far is the normal 'start in park and apply brake to shift into reverse or drive', so does that therefore mean that i only need to use the button under the gear shift going into reverse?
And if so, what the heck is the smaller button on the drivers side (left hand) of the shift stick? I have looked all over the manual and cant find any reference to it at all. Anyways, any help at all is more than appreciate, thanks y'all

can anyone help diagnose this? my jeep wont switch off,it has to be stalled to shut the engine down, the park brake light still glows when the ignition is shut off,the glow plugs pre heat doesnt illuminate and there appears to be power going to the dash i have to disconnect the battery to stop it draining .i changed the ignition switch thinking this to be the problem but no change.
